2009 Summer Training Camp with
Master George Xu 
and Master Yu Xiao Lin, Shanghai, China

June 9-14, 2009 (Tuesday through Sunday)  
La Honda, California, USA

Each year Master George Xu hosts this awesome week-long taiji camp, held in the beautiful coastal redwoods near Santa Cruz, California. He is an excellent teacher and one of the rare, high-level masters sharing internal secrets openly.

Master Yu, now 70 years old, is a rare Taichi master who was trained extensively in traditional way in both Yang Style Taichi and Chen Style Taichi hand form and sword form. He was featured as the cover story of the last issue of 2008 Taichi Magazine. He is one of the few Taichi masters who preserves the rare family forms by Yang Banghou and Yang Jianhou, the beautiful forms that you don’t see out there anymore.

Master Yu Ha several aspects which make him unique. His knowledge of the Yang Ban Hou , Yang Jian Hou, and Tibetan Qigong stand out especially.

Master Yu is senior Kung Fu brother of Master Jiang Zhong Bao (2007 China Camp Chen Style Master), he studied with many famous masters in China, including Chen Style Tai Ji Master Chen Zhao Kui and Master Xu Xiou Fung. He practices Yang Jian Hou, Yang Ban Hou, Yang Chen Fu Style Tai Ji and Wu Style Tai Ji During this seminar, Master Yu will teach Tai Ji basics, Tai Chi Qi Kung, Push Hand and Yang Jian Hou Tai Ji secret. He will also show the older version of the Yang Tai Ji to the current Yang Style Tai Ji students. He will demonstrate and teach Chen, Wu, and Yang Style Tai Ji first section and different and internal working.

General Camp Information

 

Where: The Jones Gulch YMCA Camp is located in the beautiful redwoods about one hour south of San Francisco. Take Highway 1 to Pescadero Road, then south on Jones Gulch Road. A van will be available for transportation from the San Francisco Airport for $10, one way.

 

Transportation: The shuttle van will be at San Francisco International Airport at the USAirways outdoor departure top level (2nd floor) 12:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on June 12. (Look for the Taiji Camp sign.) Call George Xu at 415-664-4578 when you arrive. If you arrive before or after take the Blue Super Shuttle from the airport to the home of George Xu, 4309 Lincoln Way, SF, next to Golden Gate Park. We can take you to camp from there, too ($15 each way). Shuttles may not be exactly at these times, try for earlier flight if you can. Also departure time should be later in the afternoon on Sunday, if possible.

 

Lodging: Dorm-style bunks are provided. Participants bring their own bedding or sleeping bags. Setting up your own tent is permitted. Separate housing for couples is available. Bring: Sleeping bag, pillow, flashlight, plenty of workout clothes, towels, toiletries, swimsuit, notebook, camera. No animals, guns, alcoholic beverages, or drugs.

 

Food: Three complete meals prepared by a professional staff in a commercial kitchen are provided daily. Participants must provide their own specialty food for unusual diets and food allergies. Vegetarian food is available, please reserve in advance (see registration form.)

Wednesday - Saturday 

6:30 - 8:00 a.m. - Morning Warm Ups
Yang and Chen style Taiji basic training, Xing-Yi basics and Qigong training

8:00 - 9:00 a.m.- Breakfast

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.- Gravity and Peng Jin training, Reaction and Potential force training, Push Hand, Xing-Yi Internal Fighting, New Tai Chi Secrets from China, Nei Gong training. Xing-Yi basics, principles and 4 power training (earth power, ying yang, dan tien power, zhong ding power, and space power).

12:00 - 1:00 p.m.- Lunch

1:00 - 3:00 p.m.- Free (rest and recreation)
3:00 - 4:30 p.m.- Form and Push Hand training with Master Yu
3:00 - 4:30 p.m.- Chen Style Taiji broad sword with Master George Xu

4:30 - 5:30 p.m.- Xin Yi Six Harmony and 10 animals form with Master George Xu

6:00 - 7:00 p.m.- Dinner

8:00 - 10:00 p.m.- Push hands, 2-person training; and lectures.

Sunday

7:00 - 8:00 a.m. - Camp Review, Qigong, Taiji basic exercise, Yi (mind) and Qi (energy) training, spiral training and power stretching.

8:00 - 9:00 a.m.- Breakfast

10:00 - 12:00 p.m.- Camp Review

12:00 - 1:00 p.m.- Lunch and check out
